A Little Bit about Miriam Rachel

Miriam Rachel was adopted on September 28, 2000 from the Bide-A-Wee Home Association, a shelter in New York City.

Miriam lost vision in one eye at, or shortly after birth, from Herpes virus. She won my heart by reaching out with her paw and resting it in my arm that I had near her cage while I was touring the shelter.

Miriam is totally devoted to me but unfriendly to strangers, even those who care for her when I am away. The local veterinarian refers to her as the “saber-toothed tiger from hell” but to me she is just a little pumpkin.

Whiskers, her predecessor, died August 6, 2000 of lymphoma.
